Leman Academy of Excellence is an independently operated, tuition-free public charter school with open-admission policies. The foundational principles for the educational philosophy of Leman Academy of Excellence has been formed and established by Dr. Kevin Leman, the founder of the school, who has often dreamed of launching a school and learning environment for young people that willingly engages and embraces parents in the educational process, highlighting the parent-teacher-scholar relationship to bring out the best in each and every child. There is no entrance exam for admission to Leman Academy.
Joe served as the founding CEO of one of the country’s fastest-growing charter school networks, with over 5000 scholars and 550 employees on 6 campuses in two states. Joe is focused on the impact the Classical Ed and Charlotte Mason model of instruction can make on our future generations. He holds a Master of Education Leadership, where he concentrated on research into character education in K12. He continues to help open and consult with Classical Education private and charter schools around the USA.

He was born in New Richmond, Wisconsin, and moved to Tucson, Arizona, in 1976. In Wisconsin, Joe was raised in a small farming community where his family operated a beef cattle operation. He learned the benefits of family and community support and the ability to work hard to achieve goals.
Joe is a serial entrepreneur, change agent, radio personality, candidate for office, developer, and CEO in the medical and charter school arenas. He has identified, started, grown, and stabilized several businesses in southern Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado.
Joe is married to Christine, and they are the parents of Hailey and Jack. Joe is a father, community leader, business owner, and supporter of local charities.
